Journal Journey (dagboekkrabbels)

Inspire, Inspire an Art Journal Project 2012.

citaat van Lineweaving.com:
"What is the Inspire, Inspire Project?"
"This is basically a project that uses idea generators (or prompts) to open the mind and encourage creative expression of anything one wants to - using patterns that flow out of the end of their pen at the time of creation.  It's a journaling project that's purpose is to make the artist stop and think, ponder, and dream about a wide variety of things. And then to pick up your pen and sketch pad and express your thoughts through repetitive pattern art."

" Fresh new beginnings..."

detail

When I start thinking while I am drawing, new patterns are being born.
When I start thinking I also get blocked, it's then that I need grids to guide me.
Thinking (do not think!) appears in the top of the page (head).

"By my hands..."

The new prompt for this time.
Since Cindy posted this prompt on Lineweaving.com I have been thinking about it and I kept on hearing a song from Jewel, it's called 'Hands' and you can hear and see the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfsS3pIDBfw
The video is OK but I love the lyrics more.

Two days ago I started this one, and while I was drawing I wrote some words and thoughts down esspecially about the symbols I used:

Difficult, want to be original... But how, thinking again. Taking the outlines of my hand is far too easy. Searching, thinking, handling... Some lyrics of a song from Jewel hearing in my ears:
(....)
"my hands are small I know
but they are not yours
they are my own.
I am never broken| (....)

Love and understanding for my inner child - small hand
Puzzle: life's a puzzle sometimes. Pieces will always fall to their place, eventually. I have faith in that
Rinkles in straight line: when people handle, use their hands, something happens, good or bad;
Balls are for playing and having fun:
Rings which get loose: I need my space and freedom
Flowers: I love flowers and all colors.

Worm around our thumbs for being strangled with my inner child and its playfullness.
The hearts in the little hand: give and receiving love.

When I was finished I was not so happy with the puzzle, but have to accept that when things are done and over there's nothing more to do about it. Acceptation. The new Undine pattern on the right 'cause I simply cannot wait to try new patterns.

Full Moon

Prompts of Cindy were: Hidden in the full moon, In the flow of the moon and As the moon lights up the sky. Some thoughts of mine: moon, black paper, night animals, owl, batmen, witches. Silver, she, openess, circle. I was thinking alot in symbols.
I made these moons. Off course (?) it has to be on black paper. I used Sakura white gelly roll and silver colorpencil.
This is a drawing about what a full moon looks like to me.... 'Cause of the flashlight of my camera, the metallics are blinking, like that alot, makes my moons more moons. Why I made two moons? I have no idea...

Moon Shine

I made another moon, but this time it's about the moon-rays, the silverly light that shines and you can see and feel on a cloudless night. She, moon = she, 'cause she receives the sunlight, is sometimes so shiny and giving light you do not need a flashlight or street lantern. I love those nights! When you look at her, it seems like she is smiling at the world. I shaded this drawing with silver metallic colorpencils and I used a light yellow and some cold blues for the moon, and a little bit of red. This one had to be, cold, shiny and blinking.

I've found you... / Ik heb je gevonden...

Yes, moonlight (full moonlight) refers to me to romance. I'm still happy and madly in love with my Marcel. I moved three and a half year ago from the west of Holland to the north (about 300 km which is far for Dutch terms), after I have been living for about 45 years in the west. Yes, he's the love of my life!!! I would travel to the moon for him!. There's this little child poem which says:
"I love you as much travelling it is from the earth to  the moon and back".

The new prompt: Wordy word words.... This prompt immediately reminded me of the song:  Wordy Rappinghood from the TomTom Club, years ago a big hit, a song about words, worthless words... For those who are interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsGFH_Q7KMs A short film about the song and the story behind this song.
The drawing had to contain words. Lots of words went through my mind when I brainstormed over this prompt. They were all about things I ought to, I must, I want to, I would love to, I consider to, I have this idea, I have to, I should, I wish, I think, I want, I will, I guess, I shall... And all I really wanted to do was: DRAWING. So this is de drawing that was born in that moment in my mind.
It's called "Thoughts on my mind'.

 "Thoughts on my mind"
Thoughts can be Bubbles (upper left) - splash - gone
Thoughts can be like waves, up and down (left)
Thoughts can be strangled and woven (down)
Thoughts can be like puzzles (upper)
The heartknot is the love for myself and descide to draw, while actually I have to...
Yin/Yangs are for finding balance in choosing for yourself or for your obligations
Thoughts are often very misty (mist, upper right) and chaotic.

You will all recognize this: the obligations we have and want to fullfill (but actually you really want to...(fill in yourself). How often do you listen to yourself and find the balance between 'have to' and 'allow yourself'. In inner peace you will find the answer :-)
*****

Homeland with love

This time is the new prompt on http://www.lineweaving.com/forums "Homeland with love". The first annotation that I have in my Journal is: Holland, wooden shoes, mill. Delfsware and immediately afterwards I thought: no, I feel at home everywhere when I feel good and love myself, and then I can live in any country. When I mused further. The feeling of home, home in yourself, I experience that when I meditate. I use to meditate alot; actually, I should have to start doing it again. It gives rest, overview, love for yourself, relaxation, a boost; It's just so healthy. So I came out to draw a Buddha. A meditating Buddha is for me a  symbol of being home in myself. I named my drawing "Ik ben thuis", which means: I am home.

At the core of it all / De kern van dit alles

De nieuwe prompt op Lineweaving.com/The Rainbow Elephant is: At the core of it all / De kern van dit alles...

The new prompt on Lineweaving.com and the Rainbow Elephant is: At the core of it all... What is 'it' actually all about, what is really important. What is the essence. I find it difficult to express that. Perhaps it's impossible to put it into words. Maybe it's silence, maybe it's nothing, or everything. Isn't is true that you can get easier to the core in silence than with a lot of noises around you? And then, if you're at the core. What IS the core? Is it love? Is it God? Is it the Buddha? Is it white? Is it black? And what can you do with the core? And besides that, what is 'all'? I find it difficult to describe the core of it all (:-)).
I try to indicate with my drawing that I want to touch the other in his/hers essence, I want to inspire the other, I want to encourage the other, I want to meet the other with repect of their boundary.

We all look different, we all wear different hats during the day, but in essence ... In essence, we are the same: gold. Each form in this drawing has a golden core that radiates to all wind directions, meeting the other with respect.

Silky Smooth

Silky Smooth is the new prompt. First I searched for the translation of 'smooth': it means even, without wrinkles, I thought it meant soft as silk. That should have been the start to work with, but instead of doing that, :-S, I brainstormed about silky soft and thought about: soft, sweet, smooth, feminin, glow, tender, rolling, nicely smelling, sugar. This is the result. Pity I didn't make any photo's during the proces, then you could have seen how I made this drawing. I'll try to explain it:
I started with a circle in the upper left and draw from that circle wavy lines with loops. In each loop I drew a flower. I filled the spaces with tangles Tortuca and Bubbles, then colouring and shadowing.

Change is a coming

The past two weeks I was struggling with this prompt, when Cindy came up with the next one, that was yesterday. The drawing was made about 2 days after she posted the prompt change is a coming. Not finished at all, but I couldn't made me to finish is. I didn't like it either. This one was so different from the others I made; I wanted to give it another try, but I had no inspiration. So past 12 days I have been thinking about this prompt en there it was: the next prompt. Time  is up  to think about this one; the next was being posted. And that was what I needed, some back pushing. This night is brainstormed about: change is a coming and this is what my brain worked out:
Sometimes changes are being forced to you. It's up to you what you do with it.
Changes have to with having control over the decisions you make. At least that's one of them. Changes also have to do with anticipating, participating. Changes also have to do with relaxing, and go with the flow. Changes can be made by yourself, well thought about, at least I do, I am a Libra, weighting the yes and no's on a balance, knowing my onw responsibility about the change and the consequences. And when you made that decisions, agree with changes, it  might turn out the different way, not at all expected. So changes can bring surprises. Changes get you out of your comfort-zone, you don't know what happens next, it can be walking on the edge. In real life it can be very risky, on papier, with drawing it can be an adventure, a save adventure. As an Art Therapist we use the safety of paper. On paper you can do anything, with paper you can do anything, it is safe, paper won't hurt you, paper won't judge you, paper is a friend which accept anything of you. Paper is patient and kind to you, you can use it any way you like.
Just some brainstorming about this prompt. I made this drawing a few days after the release of this prompt, which is about 2 weeks ago. I didn't agree with the result, it is so totally different from what I make usually and that is exactly what this prompt is about. A change, a diffentie drawing this time.

About the drawing: the (1!) red line is life itself, with all the changes: angles en curves. The line 'asked' for the patterns I made around it (leaning on what already is, life itself).

Springy Thingies

Alles bruist: HET IS LENTE !!!
Spring, ah, spring has started again. I love the springtime; It is my favorite season. Symbolically, I find it so beautiful how the flowers and plants, how nature, wakes up after the rest period of winter. The air is fresh and full of energy. Fresh spring green shoots from the ground. Flower bulbs are showing their colors. Old wood of last year is being pruned to make way for new fresh branches. Spring is also a symbol of hope for me: a seemingly dead bush turns out to be still alive. This page is full and busy and cheerful colored. Everything is buzzing: IT IS SPRING!!!

Outside my comfort zone (the birth of drawing method: to dotle)

Outside my comfort zone, the next prompt at Lineweaving.com. Something like: onknown territory..., something weird, not at all like I use to draw. Hm... that's interesting. I started with some colored dots, big and small ones, with my Stabilo markers. I've never done that! Always start with a string, or just in the middle of my empty page. First I made the dots in a controlled line (just above the middle), but I thought, NO. So that's were I put the dots everywhere. Tried not to think about the colors of the dots, just picked them randomly. So, the dots and then I took my Micron 01... Respect for what is vs creating something new, something different. One rule: DO NOT TOUCH THE DOTS!!! Most of the time rules take me out of my comfort zone. Respect for something what is, makes me adjust, and that's what I want. But when I am in a creative mood, and have a whole blanc page, nothing is..., just me and my material I often will go lose, only with respect for my materials. I create. So working my way trough and with the dots its hard to respect them. I wanted to transform them into flowers and give them some structure. Actually a mandala is also one big dot (with everything within the circle, the big dot).
While working my way trought which was ought to be different patterns, I created a comfort zone INCLUDING the colored dots, by just making stripes... Wha, I had to be OUT of my comfort zone. So a pattern had to be in ther
I ended up by making stripes again. The result is different from what I usually make, out of my comfort zone. Pfffff, mission complete :-)
Meestal halen regels me uit mijn veilige zone. OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE. Pfff. Missie geslaagd.

What's in the clouds?

When I stare into the air, I often see dancing dots. If I focus on something they are gone, ie I do not see them anymore. If I am in low light and stare to a person, I can see his aura. Often when I stare at the clouds I see all sorts of shapes and figures. If we are with our family at the dinner table, we often look to the treetops and we see various figures.
The drawings, there are three! I painted with watercolor rotating cloud shapes up, the shapes overlap.

Bij de tweede wilde ik met de dangles de dansende balletjes aangeven.I colored the first two with sunsetcolors; with the third I used gray and pink.
In the second the Dangles indicate the dancing balls.

The third I used shades of gray and pink. I have the lines of the clouds and turned partly getangled.Ik saw a face, looking up at the sky, this is worked out. Actually I have here only the lines and shapes that were created by watercolor and colored pencil with color turned on. The eye is drawn.

Ik ben dik tevreden met de resultaten. Wellicht komen er nog meer :-)
I am very pleased with the results. Maybe more will follow :-)

FACING THE ADDICTION

NO SMOKING!

ME, MESELF AND I

Normally I find it very hard to think only about myself, so I thought about what I like, about what makes me happy, which uploads me. Words that came in mind were: time for myself, uploading myself, need, importang, peace, silence, meditating, nature, openess, caring, kindness, cherrish, warmth, basic, simplicity, love, respect, share, give and take without conditions, plants, gardening, flowers. I drew myself:

Grab inspiration from a photo

Well I made about 500 photo's during my holiday in France-La Jura (or is it Le?) We had a wonderfull time with our kids Luuk (11) and Bas (13) and off course my newbie (June 21 this year) hubby Marcel. We made long walks, climbed mountains (dangerous!! if you take the wrong way), swam in the lake, visit different villages, visit marketplaces (lovely colours all around), visit churches. The Jura seems to have its own architecture when its about building churches, with the same tower. So I thought... that's a lovely shape to use for this prompt:
First you will see the pictures now you tell me which photo belongs to which pattern/shape in the drawing :-) Have fun and be inspired!!!

OPEN YOUR HEART

This drawing is made on a A3 sized paper in a sketchbook I recently bought. This time I wanted to work big and create alot of flowers with lots of colors. Well, I think that worked out really well ;-) All flowers are made with heartshapes.
BE INSPIRED IN THE SPRINGTIME!!!
